Westminster United Church 2025 marks the United Church of Canada centennial and Westminster United Church is celebrating! To mark the occasion a volunteer committee has come together and is preparing a historical journey - The Window to the Past. The journey corresponds with the history of the United Church of Canada’s work, growth and development across Canada and the work of the United Church within our community and surrounding area.
On June 8th the congregation is invited to dress in the custom of 100 years ago with ladies accessories such as gloves, hats, and purses, and the men - suits, ties and hats.
A recipe book is being compiled that will feature recipes and a short two sentence
background from our present and past congregational members. (Ex. My Grandmother
made this dish every Christmas Eve supper while we grew up!) We look forward to seeing
and enjoying these recipes that were handed down from great grandmothers,
grandmothers and mothers who served these dishes to family and friends at family
functions, events and of course church potlucks!
Preparations are being made to set out the potluck feast of the century! Committee
members are busy now ordering hams, buns, and refreshments.
Everyone planning to attend the festivities are asked to bring a side dish or dessert for a
minimum of 10 people. Please leave your potluck dish in the kitchen when you arrive. Be
sure to have your name on all bowls, pots, casserole dishes, and glassware so that it can
be easily found and returned at the end of the day!
Leave or send all recipes for the cookbook in the decorated Centennial Box that can be
found in the main lobby of the Church or emailed to bwallin@sasktel.net or
rcnorman@sasktel.net. A recipe template is attached and more copies are available at
the Church! Make your submission of 2-4 recipes by June 30, 2025.
