Winter Wonder Nature Journaling Workshops
With Merrissa Karmark and Leane Harasymchuk
Nature journaling is a fun and relaxing way to notice, wonder about, and connect with the natural world through writing, art, and observation, especially during the winter months. These sessions are accessible and engaging for all levels- whether you've never drawn a tree before, or you have lot of experience working 'en plein air!'
Location: Humboldt Reid-Thompson Public Library
Cost: $25 per session, or $60 for all three. The cost includes a take home nature journaling field kit.
Session 1: Taking Cues from Nature
January 24, 1:00-3:30pm
Explore the unique benefits of nature sketching and writing during winter, with helpful tools for all levels.
Session 2: In the Field
February 28, 1:00-3:30pm
Strategies for observing and sketching winter plants and wildlife, indoor and outdoors.
Session 3: Capture the Experience
March 28, 1:00-3:30pm
Helpful ways to find your own nature journaling voice and create fun and interesting pages.
Ages 16 and up. No previous art experience necessary. Sessions will be primarily indoors, with opportunities to work in nearby outdoor spaces. Please dress for the weather.
Field journaling kit included (field journal, water colour pallet, brush, and permanent ink pen).
